Whiskys Écossais

Everything underneath still needs sorting out properly

Established in 1824.

In 1824, George Smith established his distilleyr in the remote and wild location of Glenlivet. Here, he found the perfect conditions to craft the definitive single malt whisky.

Through this timeless primeval valley run the icy waters of the river Livet. It's name, “smooth flowing one” in Gaelic, reflects the Glenlivet's beautiful rich and elegant flavours.

Matured only in first fill american oak casks, the Glenlivet 12 year old first fill has a perfect balance of late summer flowers and ripe fruit aromas.

High up in the remote area of Glenlivet, George Smith was the first to produce a whisky of such exceptional quality that it went on to define the taste of Speyside.

His definitive single malt inspired so many other distilleries to adopt the appellation “Glenlivet” that it became known as the “longest glen in Scotland”. In 1884, a legal agreement was reached to distinguish Smith's original whisky by referring to it exclusively as “The Glenlivet”.

Distillerie depuis 1818.

Islay An Island at the very edge of Scotland. Where high cliffs drop into crashing surf and beautiful beaches thrill underfoot. This is Islay. Forged by nature, marked by history, made famous by its single malt whisky.

mcclellands_islay.jpg Note du distilleur
If the sight of this golden honeyed spirit invites you on a journey, then on the first breath your destination is revealed. It's Islay. A nose full of beachside fires and you are well on the way.
One sip, and you're there; the tang of the sea sweeps over you like the spray from an Atlantic roller.
All that salt, all that smoke, all that peat yet at no stage does the whisky overwhelm. It's hearty nature is nicely balanced by a hint of vanilla and, perhaps a little unexpectedly, a sharp slice of lemon. In the finish, sweet smoke and that unmistakeable iodine. A sparkling gem of a dram from Islay.

  • Note : Caractéristique d'Islay. Excellent rapport qualité/prix. Un petit qui a presque tout d'un grand, sinon la complexité et la noblesse.
