 +==== Alpine butterfly ====

 +Think : UNDER / OVER / UNDER
 +
 +Do three loops around your hand so the ends of the rope are facing opposing directions of your hands. Then take the middle loop and pull it **under** the bottom loop, then pull it **over** the other two loops then back **under** the two loops.
 +
 +Tighten everything up.
 +
 +This is a non-binding loop that can be made mid line, bear load in any direction and is commonly used as an attachment point, a grab handle or for hoisting.
 +
 +You can also use it as an easy to remove attachment point : pass your rope over the point you want to attach (e.g. branch), make an alpine butterfly on one end and pass the other end through it, pull that end all the way through so the alpine butterfly now rests at the attachment point. One end is your fix point, the other end will let you pull the knot down when you're done.
